Planting Books

I’ve inadvertently planted books and the my kids are picking them. Around the house we have books on shelves and a book basket that occasionally moves from downstairs to the upstairs hallway. The kids have their favorites and usually know where to find them. Needless to say, most of the books on the shelves get a passing glance as they zero in on a familiar cover within a series.

I’m pleasantly surprised that sometimes the scattering of books I leave in random places are being picked. A variety of library books I leave in the car get discovered. The random graphic novel left on the dining room table or a long forgotten classic sitting upright on a side table. Also, introducing them to a new author or series via an audio book has been priceless. The audio version serves as the hook and then to continue the series we get a physical copy of the next book.

It looks like variety is the spice of life.

Tangled hugs,
Yolanda
